SAN CRISTOBAL DE LA HABANA EL PRADO
San Cristobal de la Habana was the original name of Havana, Cuba’s capital city, when it was founded in 1519; San Cristobal (St Christoper) in honour of the Saint of the day where the city was founded, and La Habana after an Indian name for the site.
San Cristobal de la Habana cigars were introduced in 1999 on the threshold of the new Millennium as a tribute to the city’s long history.
At first the range comprised just four vitolas, each named after one of the fortresses built from the 16th to the 18th Centuries that defended Havana when it was the hub of Spain’s American empire. These are: El Morro, La Fuerza, La Punta and El Principe.
Then, in 2004, three new sizes were added, which are unique to San Cristobal. These are named after wellknown streets in Havana’s Old Town: Muralla, Mercaderes and Oficios.
All San Cristobal‘s vitolas are Tripa Larga, Totalmente a Mano – long filler, totally hand made – to a lightto medium flavoured blend of filler and binder leaves from the Vuelta Abajo tobacco zone.
Length: 5" Ring Gauge: 50
San Cristobal El Prado is an exclusive for the La Casa del Habano network and Havana Cigar Specialists. Presented in SBN boxes each containing 10 cigars measuring 5” (127mm) x 50 ring gauge, this size is known as a Petit Piramide in the factories of Cuba and not found in any other brand within the Habanos regular portfolio.
In keeping with the tradition of the San Cristobal brand to name its vitolas after iconic landmarks in Cuba, El Prado pays tribute to a very famous street in the city of Havana.
The unique size serves up all of the classic, well balanced light to medium bodied aromas that has helped make the brand such a favourite among aficionados since it was launched 20 years ago in 1999.
